Server rules
These rules apply on every TopRust server, on our Discord and in support tickets. They keep Rust brutal in the right ways: raids, betrayal and banter belong in the game, cheating and harassment don't.

Section 1
General conduct
Rust is a harsh game and it should stay that way: raiding, betrayal and banter are part of the fun. What isn't welcome is ruining the game for others outside of its mechanics.
- 1.1
Respect the community. Banter is fine. Targeted harassment, discrimination and threats are not, whether in game, on our Discord or in support tickets.
- 1.2
One player, one account. Alternate accounts used to evade bans, bypass group limits or gain an advantage are not allowed. Linked accounts are sanctioned together.
- 1.3
No real-money trading. Buying or selling items, bases, raids or accounts for real money or outside goods is prohibited.
- 1.4
No advertising. Promoting other servers, communities or services in chat, names, signs or on our Discord is not allowed.
- 1.5
Know the rules. These rules apply on every server we run. Group limits and gather rates are listed on each server page. Not knowing a rule does not exempt you from it.
- 1.6
Staff have the final word in game. If you disagree with a decision, open a ticket instead of arguing in chat. Every sanction can be reviewed.
Section 2
Cheating & exploits
Anything that gives you an unfair advantage is banned. Cheating bans are permanent and apply across the whole network.
- 2.1
No cheats or third-party tools. Aimbots, ESP, radar, no-recoil tools and memory editors are banned, whether or not you were actively using them at the time.
- 2.2
No scripts or macros. Hardware or software macros that automate recoil control, clicking or repeated inputs count as cheating.
- 2.3
No exploiting bugs. Glitching into rocks or terrain, shooting or building through walls, duplicating items and abusing unintended mechanics are prohibited. Found a bug? Report it in a ticket.
- 2.4
No association with cheaters. Knowingly playing with, protecting or profiting from a cheater gets the whole group banned.
- 2.5
No ban evasion. Returning on another account while banned results in a permanent ban on every account involved.
- 2.6
No recent game bans. If any of your accounts got a Rust game ban in the last 180 days, you can't play on our servers.
Section 3
Group limits & teaming
Each server's group limit is shown on its page, and some servers have no limit at all. The limit covers everyone you cooperate with, not just your in-game team.
- 3.1
Stay within the limit. The group limit is the maximum number of players who may cooperate at any time: sharing bases, loot, codes or resources, or fighting together.
- 3.2
No alliances beyond the limit. Truces, ceasefires or coordinated raids with other groups that take you over the limit count as teaming.
- 3.3
No rotating teammates. You can replace a teammate, but a player who leaves your group cannot rejoin it, or your base, for the rest of the wipe.
- 3.4
Solo means solo. On solo servers, any cooperation with another player counts as teaming, including a temporary truce or help in a fight.
- 3.5
Clean up access. When someone leaves, remove their tool cupboard authorisation and change your codes. Leftover access that lets them keep playing with you counts as teaming.
Section 4
Chat & behaviour
Talk trash about someone's base, not about who they are.
- 4.1
No hate speech. Racism, sexism, homophobia, slurs and other discriminatory remarks are not tolerated in any language, including names, clan tags, signs and voice chat.
- 4.2
No threats or doxxing. Threats of real-world harm or DDoS attacks, or sharing anyone's personal information, result in a permanent ban.
- 4.3
No spam. Flooding chat, excessive caps, repeated messages and begging staff for items are not allowed.
- 4.4
Keep voice chat bearable. Mic spam, soundboards and deliberately loud noises are not allowed.
- 4.5
Appropriate names. Names and clan tags must not be offensive or impersonate staff, content creators or other players.
Section 5
Building & raiding
Build what you like and raid who you like, within the game's intended mechanics.
- 5.1
No unraidable bases. Using glitches or map geometry to make a base impossible to raid, including building inside rocks or terrain, is exploiting.
- 5.2
Don't lag the server. Excessive entity spam, such as huge wall fields or structures built to hurt performance, may be removed without notice.
- 5.3
No compensation for normal losses. Bases lost to raids or decay are not restored. Losses caused by a confirmed server bug or rollback are handled case by case.
Section 6
Streaming & content
Creators are welcome on every server. Streaming doesn't come with extra permissions.
- 6.1
Stream and record freely. You may broadcast or record anywhere on our servers.
- 6.2
No stream sniping. Watching someone's stream to find, follow or ambush them in game is not allowed.
- 6.3
Protect your stream. To be protected from stream sniping, do everything you can to make it hard: turn on Rust's streamer mode, use a stream delay, keep the server name and IP out of your stream and its title, and cover your map, compass and grid position. Without these precautions we can't act on sniping reports.
- 6.4
Respect privacy. Don't show other players' personal information, private messages or support ticket conversations on stream.
- 6.5
Same rules for creators. Creators follow the same rules, and receive the same sanctions, as everyone else.
Section 7
Staff & appeals
Treat staff with the respect you would expect in return, and use the proper channels when you disagree.
- 7.1
Staff will never ask for your password. No staff member will ever ask for your Steam login, payment details or a verification code. Report anyone who does.
- 7.2
Cooperate with investigations. Staff may spectate you, review logs or ask you questions. Refusing to cooperate or lying to staff can count against you.
- 7.3
Don't impersonate staff. Pretending to be staff in game, on Discord or anywhere else leads to a ban.
- 7.4
Appeal through a ticket. Ban appeals are handled through support tickets. You can submit one appeal per ban each month, and it is reviewed by a different staff member than the one who issued the ban.
- 7.5
Report staff misconduct. Complaints about staff go to senior staff through a ticket and are handled confidentially.
- 7.6
Don't abuse reports. Filing false reports or spamming tickets is itself a rule violation.
